Comfort Pillow Project News

The Project is alive and going strong!

A big THANK YOU to those of you who have created the beautiful pillows for chemotherapy and radiation treatment patients at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Our first delivery was November 7 last year and through February of this year, we have delivered

127 pillows to the Hospital's Cancer Center...we currently have a reserve of about 20 pillows! Your contributions are so well received. When they are delivered the reception is remarkable...the pillows could not be more appreciated if we were delivering bags of gold! We have noticed many regular contributors and appreciate your dedication. The notes some of you write on the cards are so inspiring, encouraging and loving. The Social Worker at the hospital reports that the pillows bring much joy and often a smile to what is a sad and scary time for the patients as they begin their chemotherapy or radiation treatments. We hope you will continue to support this worthy effort and thank you all for your time and contributions. At this time, the hospital is in need of 12-15 pillows a month. Bearly Quilting is continuing their support and providing instructions, gift tags, and a drop-off location. We will also have instructions with us at the monthly Sierra Quilt Guild meetings.

Project Information

The Comfort Pillow Project is a national program that donates small pillows to local hospitals to help cancer patients through their recovery.

Bearly Quilting has partnered with members of our quilting community to make and distribute comfort pillows to local post-surgery cancer patients at Sonora Regional Medical Center as they begin their chemotherapy treatment.

If you would like to participate in this very worthwhile cause, please contact Bearly Quilting for details and patterns for making the various pillows. Completed pillows can be dropped off at Bearly Quilting which are forwarded to SRMC at regular intervals.
